Nkarta Therapeutics, a private biotech start-up that is harnessing the power of Natural Killer cells in developing next generation cellular immunotherapies for cancer. NK cells play a key role in the body’s immune system, able to identify and kill abnormal cells by monitoring their expression of activating and inhibitory receptors and recruit the adaptive immune system.

Nkarta will combine its NK expansion platform with further proprietary cell engineering technologies to build differentiated products designed to tackle challenging diseases with significant unmet clinical need.

Nkarta is currently offering a unique opportunity for a highly-motivated Bio-Processing Engineer/Scientist to join our team with expertise in process development/bio-processing for cell therapy. Initial responsibilities will include translating bench methods, and protocols into robust processes for the manufacture of advanced NK cell therapies. The qualified candidate will coordinate closely with cross-disciplinary team of immunologists, engineers, and clinicians to develop and implement protocols that embody best practices in cell therapy manufacturing.


  • Development of phase-appropriate cell therapy production processes using quality-by-design principles

  • Assist in tech transfer to internal partners for GMP manufacturing including risk assessment and mitigation strategy development

  • Support GMP operations

  • Perform IQ/OQ/PQ

  • Identify and address improvements and risk mitigations in manufacturing processes

  • Demonstrate a high level of initiative in troubleshooting experiments and accurate data analysis.

  • Participating in cross-functional collaborations to meet project timelines and material supply requirements

  • Lift up to 50Lbs


  • MS or PhD in Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, Process Engineering
  • Experience with flow cytometry
  • Experience with cell culture work
  • Operating bioreactors
  • cGDP and cGMP experience
  • Previous exposure to GMP manufacturing of cell therapy or biological products is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in cell therapy production processes
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and high degree of organization in terms of goal setting and achieving
  • Willingness to travel up to 10%
